Living Life to its Fullest Potential

I’ve lives an intersting life, if I do say so myself

Trained as a professional dancer, actress, and costume designer, I spent the early part of my adult life as a professional content creator, traveling the world and working with some of the top companies in the video game industry, including Gearbox, 2K, Square Enix, and Blizzard, as well as online pop culture brands suich as The Nerdist, Sourcefed, and LootCrate. My costumes have been on exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California. featured and interviewed in TIME Magazine, and showcased on the SyFy reality competition series, Cosplay Melee, where I won $10,000 grand prize of my episode challenge.

In 2018, in the midst of backpacking around the world as a professional travel blogger, I necame sick, and due to a medical issue, damaged my optic nerves, resulting in permanent vision loss. I am now legally blind, with a small window of near-colorless tunnel vision where I can still see enough to read and write, but only barely.

But hope is not lost. Technology has come a long way and, back in 2020, I started teaching myself digitial art and design. With the help of software where I can magnify objects and identify color, I can continue creating art. After all, creativity is in what you think and feel, not in what you see, and with the help of technology, I can bridge the gap where my disability restricts me to confidently and effectively express myself.

These circumstances have given me a new persective: I know what it’s like to be fully sighted and able, but I also know the limitations life brings when we don’t provide accessibility to all. I strive to include and consider everyone in my art and design process so we can all create a better world together
